Nowhere for a bad stone to hide

A solitaire is a single stone on a plain band. There is no halo, no side stones, and nothing else pulling the eye away. That makes it the setting where cutting quality shows most directly, and the one where a poorly cut stone is most obvious. It is also why the solitaire has stayed the benchmark engagement ring for over a century.

Prongs change more than you would expect

Four prongs show more of the stone and let in more light from the sides. Six prongs hold more securely and make a round stone read slightly rounder, at the cost of covering a little more surface. For a ring worn daily with a stone above 2ct, six is the safer choice. Below that the decision is mostly about looks.

Setting height matters too. A high-set solitaire catches light from underneath and looks dramatic, and it also catches on clothing and hair. A low setting sits flatter and survives daily life better.

Ordering

Made to order in our own workshop in Surat, two to four weeks door to door, sizes 3 to 10 in quarter steps, and 30 days to return or exchange.

Frequently asked questions

How many prongs should a solitaire have?

Four prongs show more of the stone and let in more light. Six hold more securely and suit stones above 2ct worn daily. Below that it is mostly a matter of looks.

High or low setting?

A high-set solitaire catches light from underneath and looks dramatic, and it also catches on clothing and hair. A low setting sits flatter and survives daily life better.

Will people be able to tell it is moissanite?

By eye, most people cannot at typical sizes. Above roughly 1.5 to 2ct in bright light, the extra fire becomes visible to someone who knows what to look for, and a jeweler with a tester can always identify moissanite. A solitaire hides nothing, which is why we say this plainly.
