A heart is the hardest common shape to cut well. The two lobes have to match in size, height, and curve, and the cleft between them has to sit dead center. When any of that is off the eye picks it up immediately, even from across a room, and the stone stops reading as a heart and starts reading as a mistake.

This is the shape where cutting quality shows most, which is also why the cheap end of the moissanite market produces so many bad ones.

Go bigger than you think

Below about 1ct a heart struggles to read as a heart at conversational distance. The outline needs surface area for the cleft and the point to register. If you want the shape to be recognizable rather than merely correct up close, 1ct is a sensible floor and 1.5ct upward is safer. A ratio close to 1:1 gives the classic proportion.
