Marquise Moissanite Engagement Rings

Marquise cut moissanite engagement rings, made to order in sterling silver, gold, or platinum. A marquise covers more finger per carat than any other shape, which makes it the most efficient cut if size on the hand is the priority.

Why a marquise looks bigger

A marquise is long, narrow, and pointed at both ends, and it carries its weight spread across the surface rather than down into the base of the stone. That gives it the largest face-up area of any cut for a given carat weight. A 1ct marquise reads closer to a 1.5ct round on the hand.

If the goal is presence on the finger for the money, this is the most efficient shape we sell. Adding a halo pushes it further, and we keep a separate page for marquise halo engagement rings.

The trade-offs, stated plainly

There are two. The points at either end are the most fragile part of any faceted stone, so a marquise wants prongs covering both tips if you wear it every day. And like every elongated brilliant, a marquise can show a bow tie, a dark band across the middle where the facets fail to return light. A faint one is normal and almost universal. A heavy one dulls the center, and we reject stones where it dominates.

A length to width ratio around 1.85:1 to 2.1:1 is the classic marquise proportion.
