Hoops and drops do different jobs

A hoop holds its shape against the ear and reads as structure. A drop hangs and moves, so it catches light every time you turn your head. The same moissanite behaves quite differently between the two, because moissanite disperses light 2.4 times as strongly as diamond and movement is what brings that out.

If you want maximum sparkle from the smallest stones, take the drops. If you want something that stays put and reads clean, take the hoops.

Choosing a hoop size

Small hoops under about 20mm sit close to the lobe and work for daily wear under hair and scarves. Medium hoops between 20mm and 40mm are the everyday statement size. Anything above 40mm reads as occasion jewelry and tangles in long hair. Weight climbs with diameter, so a large hoop in a heavy metal will be felt by the end of a day.
