Bracelets take more abuse than any other piece
A wrist knocks against desks, door frames, car doors, and keyboards all day long. A bracelet takes more physical contact than a ring and far more than a necklace, which makes construction quality matter more here than the stones do.
Look at the clasp first. A box clasp with a figure-eight safety catch is the standard for anything you would be upset to lose. A simple lobster clasp is fine on a light chain bracelet and inadequate on a stone-set line.
Getting the fit right
Measure your wrist with a strip of paper and add half an inch for a close fit or three quarters for a looser one. A bracelet should move on the wrist without sliding over the hand. Too tight and it presses against the wrist bone all day. Too loose and it spins, which puts the clasp on top where it shows.
