What moissanite costs against a mined diamond

The comparison worth making is against a mined diamond, not against other moissanite sellers. A 1ct mined diamond engagement ring commonly runs $4,000 to $7,000 and upward. A 1ct moissanite ring here starts around $150 in sterling silver and around $900 in 18k gold. That gap is the whole reason this brand exists.

Metal drives most of the spread. On a 1ct ring the rough tiers run $150 in silver, $500 in 10k, $650 in 14k, $700 in platinum, and $900 in 18k. These are a 2026 snapshot and moissanite pricing moves constantly, so treat them as indicative rather than fixed. We go through the full comparison in our natural diamond versus moissanite guide.

What you give up, stated honestly

Moissanite disperses light about 2.4 times as strongly as diamond, 0.104 against 0.044. At typical sizes most people cannot tell by eye. Above roughly 1.5 to 2ct in bright daylight the extra fire shows as flashes of color to anyone who knows what to look for, and a jeweler with a tester can identify moissanite every time through its double refraction. If being indistinguishable matters more to you than price, a lab-grown diamond is the honest answer, and we do not sell those.

If that is the part you are weighing up, two pieces go deeper. One on whether people will know your ring is moissanite, and one on how moissanite compares to a lab-grown diamond.

Resale is the other one. Fine jewelry is not an investment as a general rule. Mined diamonds resell at roughly 30 to 50% of retail and moissanite recovers less than that. Buy it to wear it.

How ordering works

Nothing is pre-made. You choose the shape, the setting, the metal, the carat weight, and the size, and we produce the ring in Surat, where I am from and where a large share of the world's jewelry is actually manufactured. Allow one to two weeks for CAD, production, and quality checks, then another one to two weeks in transit to the US.

Returns and exchanges run for 30 days and resizing goes through that same window. There is no blanket lifetime warranty. Manufacturing defects are covered and we will repair or replace them, while ordinary wear after the first month is not. Every ring ships with our own appraisal letter, and you are welcome to take it to any local jeweler to verify. Our full engagement ring buying guide covers the rest.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a moissanite engagement ring cost?

A 1ct moissanite engagement ring starts around $150 in sterling silver and around $900 in 18k gold at Grown Halo, as of 2026. Metal drives most of the price difference. A comparable 1ct mined diamond ring commonly runs $4,000 to $7,000.

Can a jeweler tell moissanite from diamond?

Yes. A jeweler with a tester can always identify moissanite through its double refraction. By eye, most people cannot tell at typical sizes, though above roughly 1.5 to 2ct the extra fire becomes visible in bright light.

Does moissanite get cloudy or scratch over time?

No. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, just below diamond at 10. It does not cloud, dull, scratch, or tarnish in normal wear. Sterling silver settings can tarnish, which is normal for silver and reversible with a polishing cloth.

How long does a made-to-order ring take?

Two to four weeks door to door. One to two weeks for CAD, production, and quality checks in our Surat workshop, then one to two weeks in transit to the US.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns and exchanges from delivery. Resizing runs through the same exchange window. Manufacturing defects are covered for repair or replacement; ordinary wear after the first month is not.

Do your rings come with a certificate?

Every ring ships with our own appraisal and authenticity letter, and a digital certificate is emailed on request. Note that GIA and IGI do not grade moissanite, so a seller claiming a GIA-graded moissanite is a red flag. We invite you to verify any stone with a local jeweler.
