Bezel Set Moissanite Engagement Rings

A bezel setting wraps a thin rim of metal around the whole moissanite centre stone instead of holding it with prongs. It sits lower on the hand and snags less on clothing, which makes it the practical choice if you work with your hands.

The setting for people who use their hands

A bezel wraps a continuous rim of metal around the girdle of the stone instead of gripping it with prongs. The stone sits lower, the profile is flatter, and there is nothing sticking up to catch on gloves, hair, fabric, or equipment. Nurses, climbers, hairdressers, mechanics, and anyone who works with their hands tend to end up here for exactly that reason.

It also protects the most vulnerable part of the stone. The girdle is the edge, and the edge is where a knock does damage. A bezel covers it completely.

What you give up

Light. Prongs let light enter the stone from the sides as well as the top, and a bezel blocks that. The same stone will look slightly less lively in a bezel than in a four-prong setting. A partial or half bezel, open at two sides, recovers some of it while keeping most of the protection. A bezel is also harder to resize than a plain shank, because the setting is integral to the band.
